Faux. RockSurface® panels are engineered from high-density polyurethane and composite blends, molded and color-finished to replicate the texture, depth, and color variation of natural stone. The reason to choose faux: real stone runs 4 to 8 times the cost, weighs 10 to 20 pounds per square foot, and usually requires structural reinforcement. Faux gives you the same visual at a fraction of the weight and labor.

Three different stone profiles. Highland Rock has a refined ledger-style texture, best for fireplaces and interior feature walls where you want a clean, layered look. Ridge Rock has more pronounced surface relief and works well on larger feature walls where the texture needs to read from across the room. Stone Rock (sold as a 6-panel set) has the most dramatic depth, designed for full accent walls and exterior facades.

Light enough to install without structural reinforcement. Most panels weigh under 2 pounds per square foot, compared to real stone at 10 to 20 pounds per square foot. That weight difference is the whole reason DIY install is realistic. You don't need an engineer, a stone mason, or extra wall framing. Construction adhesive alone holds them on standard drywall for most installs.

Yes, around the surround and mantel area. The composite material is heat-tolerant for typical fireplace exposure. Keep panels at least 6 to 8 inches from direct flame contact, which standard fireplace code already requires for any non-masonry material. For inserts and gas fireplaces with proper clearance, RockSurface® delivers a stone-clad fireplace look in under a day.

Yes, on selected exterior applications. The panels are UV-protected, weather-resistant, and resist moisture and cracking. Good outdoor use cases include covered patios, accent walls under eaves, and exterior facades on protected sides of a building. For full sun exposure on south-facing walls in extreme climates, contact our team to confirm the right product before ordering.

Apply heavy-duty construction adhesive to the back of each panel and press firmly onto clean, primed drywall. For larger installations or panels above eye level, add corrosion-resistant screws through the panel into wall studs as backup. The interlocking edges align automatically, so you mostly just need a level for the first row. Most accent walls finish in a few hours.

Yes. Cut with a fine-tooth circular saw, jigsaw, or oscillating multi-tool. The composite material cuts cleanly without splintering. For outlet cutouts, mark the hole from the back, drill a starter hole, and finish with a jigsaw. Cut edges can be touched up with matching color paint. We send sample chips on request.

Minimally. Each panel is designed with interlocking edges that align continuously, so the seam pattern follows the natural break lines you'd see in real stone walls. From normal viewing distance, the wall reads as continuous stone. Up close, you can see the joins, but they look like natural stone seams, not panel edges.
